Bathroom Exhaust Fans

Exhaust fans are used throughout the entire home. There are only certain rooms that we will notice them in and even then we might not truly understand how important they are and how they are able to help until they are broken. One of the most important types are bathroom exhaust fans.

The bathroom is one of the hardest room in the home to keep clean. This is because it is being used on a daily basis and during this time moisture is able to get trapped on all the surfaces. When the moisture is not removed it will cause the doors, cabinets, and furniture to peel and the doors to become warped. The only way to prevent this is to use an exhaust fan.

You will notice that when you take a shower and the fan is on it will help to remove much of the steam that the hot water is producing. It is literally pulling out the hot air and excess moisture and moving it out of the room.

When purchasing a new bathroom exhaust fan you first have to know what size it should be. According to the Department of Energy you should use a fan that will extract a cubic feet per minute. Measure your bathroom and use the number of cubic feet to multiply it by eight. Now divide that answer by sixty and you will know the number of cubic feet of moisture it can remove every minute.

One of the biggest downsides to using these fans is that they might be very loud. This will depend on how powerful you want it to be and what brand you purchase. It is possible that you might not have a problem with this.

For a standard bathroom exhaust fan you will end up by spending around $150. If you want additional features like a remote control or sensors that will activate automatically when anyone enters the bathroom than this will cost you quite a bit more. One feature that is worth spending more money for is a light and energy efficient mechanism.

When installing a bathroom exhaust fan you first want to call out an electrician that will be able to measure the area it will be placed in, suggest what type of fan to use in your bathroom, and will set up all of the wiring for you and install the whole system. This is a long and difficult process and when not done right could cause many problems for you.
